The New Zealand women punched above their weight in the qualifying heats for the Middle Distance Final at the Junior World Orienteering Championships, gaining three A finalists
..... At Dubbo, New South Wales, Tineke Berthelsen of Tauranga finally had a clean run to place 2nd in Heat A, while Wellington's Lizzie Ingham was also mistake free in gaining third place in Heat C. Sixteen-year-old Kate Morrison (Hawkes Bay) was the third Kiwi woman to qualify for the A final with a 17th placing.
The New Zealand men, however, did not perform as well with only Thomas Reynolds (Auckland) making the A-final, where he just sneaked in with a 19th in Heat A.
