This exciting new kayak
is designed to meet the needs of the novice/ intermediate paddlers looking
for a lively, railable, stable, safe kayak with a good turn of speed.
It is fitted with our larger cockpit, making it very suitable for the
larger/ heavier paddlers. The Gladiator is 5.9m long with a beam of 530mm
and has plenty of secondary stability.
This innovative new multisport kayak is designed for the advanced and elite paddler with inputs from a number of top multisporters and paddlers and is designed to be the fastest multisport kayak in the world. The F1 was paddled by George Christison when winning the Coast to Coast 2004. The hull design was perfected using systems put in place for us by Richard Karn, ex Team NZ, and used in our very successful Opus and Swallow 2001 kayaks.
This radical kayak is fast with considerable secondary stability and is fitted with our new "bikini" seat. It's lower volume and 6.2 metre length will let it accelerate with ease, cutting wave trains and eliminating rocking.
At the end of 2001
there are already 30 F1 out there! This new, fast, smart
looking kayak supersedes our very popular Opus. The original Opus was
designed with the help of Richard Karn from Team NZ and was described
by kayaking legend Ian Ferguson as “the best balance of speed and
stability”. The new “Firebolt” is an advance on that
design and description. It has easier paddle entry, a finer “cutting’
bow, a lower foredeck and a wider rear deck for more secondary stability.
All this makes the new “Firebolt” faster and more stable in
white water and less vulnerable to strong winds in open water. This innovative new
kayak has 3 seating options:- |

This is the radical update of our popular Swallow. It has the same basic dimensions as the earlier model, being 5.4M long and a maximum beam of 480mm. Designed for the Multisporter progressing to a faster kayak from an Intrigue etc, who finds a K1 too unstable. The Swallow is a very popular intermediate level kayak for such events as Coast to Coast, Tongariro Classic, Crater to Lake, Weka Wild Thing, Wellington Crazy Man, and The Motu Challenge to name a few. This new kayak, designed with help from Richard Karn (ex team NZ) is slightly faster, is more stable and turns easier than it's predecessor.
This kayak comes complete with easily adjustable OZO footrests
and the new "Kengineering" hydrodynamic rudder. |

Intrigue The Multisport kayak designed for those paddlers wishing to
move up from heavier plastic kayaks. It has become very popular 'entry level' kayak and is particularly suitable
for novices and those requiring extra stability in white water.
The first Adventure Duet, ready to race!
The Adventure Duet is 7m long , weighs 24kgs 'all up' (carbon/kevlar) and has a waterline beam of 550mm , to meet the requirements set down for the Southern Traverse & other adventure races. It has decklines , bulkheads and hatches and is very suitable for recreational paddling and adventure holidays or adventure racing where one wants to carry gear in a lighter weight , fast double. The "Duet" is ideal for situations where one paddler might be stronger than the other ( such as a mix of gender and/or generations) and would be very suitable for places like the Whanganui River, Lake Waikaremoana, Waitamata Harbour and the Marlborough Sounds. The Duet is available to suit, in either Glass or carbon/kelar
models, with seating & rudder options. The Adventure Duet has proven to be a consistant high performer in all conditions and dominating Adventure Racing in New Zealand. OceanX
This Racing Sea Kayak was designed specifically for the “Length of New Zealand Race” and built around the safety criteria drawn up for that race. The OceanX is built along the lines a long racing surf ski, so it is very fast and tracks very well in the sea, it also very suitable for kayak racing in the many harbours, estuaries, fiords and lakes of New Zealand, it also lends itself well to the kayak sections of many multisport races and fast touring The OceanX is fast, light, comfortable and surprisingly stable. It weighs only 11 kgs ‘out of the mould’ and 16.5 kgs ‘fully rigged’. This latest addition to the Ruahine Kayaks stable is 6.4 metres in length and has a maximum beam of 500mm. It is fitted with foam bulkheads and hatches front and rear. There are decklines on front and rear decks and steering is from a Kengineering fully retractable hydrodynamic rudder controlled by OZO footrests and toe flaps.
Rebel
The new fast funky Ruahine Kayak designed for the smaller paddler of both genders in the 50 to 70kg range. After discussions with a number of top Multisporters and Adventure Racers, it was decided that there is a need for suitable boat for smaller paddlers, moving up from a Swallow, Sprinter or Arrow but find an Opus too big and the "6 metre plus" boats too long. The result is our new "Rebel" kayak. It is 5.65 metres long, which is half way between the length of the Swallow and the Opus and it has a maximum beam of 450mm. On it’s debut paddle Jill Westenra won the women’s section of the Rangitikei race this year.
