December 2nd-3rd 2006

Auckland Region

Get training for the second edition of Auckland's newest adventure race on December 2nd - 3rd 2006.

As avid adventure racers ourselves we wanted to see more adventure racing events on the calendar that push teams to work on their navigation skills and team work, so we came up with the 1020 challenge.

Our aim is to encourage new-comers to the sport as well as challenge the more experienced athletes. The event will consist of two races the '10 hour challenge' and the '20 hour challenge'.

Both races will include kayaking, rogaining (navigation with a time limit), mountain biking, trekking, and mystery activities. We recommend you have a good navigator in your team.

Check the Updates section on this site for race tips and further information.

Some comments from 2005 competitors

"Everything was humming - thanks and congrats to the organisers and marshalls for putting on a well organised event, easily accessible from Auckland, and physically accessible to beginners like me! The navigational challenges were fairly intense and really tested our team-work. Good times!" Nick Harris – 10 hr – Team Wwinckers

Great adventure race if you missed it. Innovative format that tested the navigation of most. Logistically friendly and well organised Thanks for a well thought out, varied event. Highly recommended for 2006 Darren Gosse – 10hr – Vision Security

Thanks for organising a great event - we really enjoyed ourselves - even if we felt the full force of not doing enough training! Can you please pass on our thanks to the rest of the organising team - an event like this must take a massive amount of effort to set-up. Mark Wansbrough – 10hr –Team Nana
